Part 5: Removing the Pins

October 2, 2000 Katie was ready to have the pins removed from her feet. The Dr.'s office cut off the casts and had us wait for Dr. Kehl. This gave us some time to take pictures. (NOTE: THESE PICTURES ARE FAIRLY GRAPHIC SO CLICK HERE IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM) Dr. Kehl then asked us if we wanted the plaster or the fiberglass (colored) casts. We quickly thought back to the amount of plaster that was laying around within days of her getting the plaster casts and told him we would go with the pink ones again.

Terri had a business trip to Savannah, GA. that Wednesday and I went with her. When we called Grandma Murphy to see how Katie was doing we found out that Katie had puled one of her casts off of her foot, and promptly suck her foot in her mouth (some would say to take after her dad). After talking with a frantic grandmother the Dr.'s office made an appointment for Katie to go in the next day and this time she received a double dose: plaster cast on the bottom wrapped with the fiberglass cast on the top.

Notice how these casts don't go as far up her legs.
This made a much happier baby.
