Part 3: The First Casts
Our normally happy baby was gone. Katie had trouble sleeping but never seemed to be in pain so to speak. She would cry when they put the cast on or took them off, but she would kick them around once we got home. I think we were more worried than she was about them.
Every 10 days we would go and see Dr. Kehl and have the casts redone. Each time he would move her feet a little, rearrange them and then re-cast them.
One day he took an X-ray to see how the feet were doing. When the X-ray came back he told us that he was going to stop the casting because it was no longer doing any good. Her feet were starting to bend in the wrong direction.
Now all we had to do was wait until she was 5 months old, then we could do surgery.
