It was the last year Papa was going to Indy, apparently it's changed a bit since he started going almost 50 years ago. Race weekend goes like this: Get there late Wednesday night so you can be ready to claim your spot on Thursday morning, then eat and people watch the rest of the day. Friday there is a short 100 mile race, Saturday is more people watching and eating, and then Sunday is RACE DAY! So, with all those days of people watching we try to come up with interesting ideas to help pass the time. This year we realized that there were 4 ordained ministers in our group. No really, 4 of us are, you can even see pictures of one of us performing a marriage on this very site! So the idea was with all the fighting over religion and just general anger in the world we would all wear collars and spend a day just wishing everyone a happy Indy, not try to force any beliefs, and remind people that preconceived notions aren't usually true. This led to some interesting conversations, a bunch of strange looks, and more then one check of our credentials. But overall, the reaction was good and more than a few smiles were brought to life.
