The invitations were sent. Grandma Sue and Papa were on their way, the tree cake was put created. It was an April Fools day that would have a lot of merriment and not a single practical joke to be found. Katie was having her 6th birthday and everyone was ready for a great time.
Everyone ran around and socialized for a bit before the cake was brought out. (For those of you wondering it was Funfetti cake, rainbow sherbet, cool-whip frosting, shaved chocolate for the bark, and mint leaves for the leaves.) We lit the candles and all joined in for a harmonious Happy Birthday before the official sticking the finger in the cake and then cutting and passing it out part.
After the cake was finished and a bit of running around to burn off some energy it was present time. Katie had colored some stickers earlier in the day and gave one to everyone who brought her a present and/or card. This year she even read her own birthday cards to everyone.
After the presents we all partied well into the night, made marshmallows in the fire pit, and after the last guest left, passed out in the living room.
Thanks to everyone who made it out and we will probably see you again in a few months to do it all over for Jimmy!
