What a day! It started out over breakfast while Katie studied the map on how to get up to Dahlonega (it's in the N. GA mountians). After a quick stop to pick up Mr. Jay we headed up to the mountians. The first thing we did was to pan for gold. While Jimmy wasn't interested Katie had a great time. We followed that with watermelon, face painting, and pony rides. The festival was then over, so we grabbed a bite to eat and then went to stake our claim for a good spot to watch the fireworks. After a breif stint with the umbrellas to keep off the sun, the kids decided to play. This included rolling on the hill, getting the blanket ready, frisbee, general running around, and even catching lightning bugs till the fireworks started. After the fireworks it was time to head home. The kids bearly made it out of the parking lot before falling asleep.
